I’m fifteen and I really want to learn to play piano (I was inspired by the song river flows in you by yurima) but my parents cant afford lessons so my friend is going to teach me, but he’s really into music and I don’t want to waste his time having him teach me anything I could learn on my own. Please, webites or tips would REALLY help.

My daughter is 15, and really wants to start learning to play the Piano. She cannot read music, but she does play the guitar already. I told her that she can start if she wants to, which she does, but she is afraid that her age is a problem. Any suggestions?

I love the sound of both. I have a years experience with the piano, and none with the guitar. We have a piano but it is very untuned and my mother wants to sell it to make more room in our house. My brother quit guitar lessons awhile ago, so i could have his amp/guitar. I would love to learn both but i think that would be kind of hard. I mostly listen to rock music hence the reason i want to learn guitar, but i also want to learn the piano and i have experience with it. So which should i learn?

Hope everyone had a great holiday and new years. As one of my resolutions I’m going to learn how to play the piano. I’m in the Ocala, FL area and wanted to see if anyone could refer anyone to me. Not trying to be taught by someone who doesn’t have a passion for the piano and music otherwise I’m not gonna learn squat. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I’d appreciate it very much. Thanks for your time and wish the best of luck to all of your resolutions for the coming and all years.

I want to serenade my girlfriend by learning a piano piece. I can play several other instruments well, but I have not played piano in a very long time. So what would be a good piano piece for someone with little right-left coordination who knows music? I am looking for something beautiful sounding, maybe Romantic or Expressionist and easy to learn and play. Thanks!

I am already older, like in my early thirties and want so much to learn the piano. How long did it take you and what age did you start? Did you use an online program or a book or were you taught by someone? I have a good ear and I sing. I also have about an hour or two a day to practice. What are your suggestions? I don’t read music however but I am so longing to learn. I want to sing and play music at my convenience. IE, at Holiday gatherings and family events.

hello all
i love singing and can read music and sing pretty well.
ive always wanted to be able to sit down and play the piano or a guitar and sing at the same time, but as of now i dont know either. i know the notes on a piano but that’s about it. i don’t really know anything about guitars.
i have both a guitar and piano in my house, and im trying to learn how to play them. from your experience, which is easier to learn? how long would it take for me to be decent at one instrument? like, after how long do you think i could sing and play a song at the same time? how should i learn or practice?
i want to know how to play the guitar more i think.
im 17 incase that matters.
thanks so much!

I want to learn how to play the piano by ear and to also read music. But I dont know where to start on my keyboard, I cant afford lessons and I’m so afraid I’m going to fail. I’m afraid I’ll never be able to learn how to play the piano. All the notes…keys…sharps, flats, it all seems so very hard. Please, help me. Also would it be easier to learn the guitar?
Was anyone self taught? How did you start?

I want to learn to play guitar or piano so that the songs I write have music. Which is quicker to learn?
And I mean to learn enough to write songs and play other songs with ease. Not mastering them, but to have a few songs that I KNOW.

I’m thinking about taking lessons for the guitar, along with my regular piano lessons. I’m just wondering, would piano give me a head-start on learning guitar? To me, they are completely separate instruments, but I’ve heard some people say that if you can read music for piano, you can read it for the guitar easier. Is that true?

Since a child I have always enjoyed music and especially the piano. Money growing up and later school and work, didn’t help much in learning how to play. Now I am in a position that take the time to learn. I would like to try to learn on my own just to get familiar with the keys and then seek an instructor. How difficult is the piano to learn as an adult?

I just bought a piano for myself (I used to play) and my kids (6 and 4) love "playing" it. My daughter (6) is asking for lessons. She will start 1st grade in the fall. I started playing the flute when I was in the fourth grade. Should I wait until she gets to the fourth grade for piano lessons? I have no intention of trying to raise a Mozart, just to have an understanding and love of music.

I want to take piano lessons because I’m a writer, and I’m finally to a point where I’d enjoy making music to the songs now. I’m a beginner keep in mind; I have no background experience whatsoever. So how much do you think it would cost to get lessons here in Michigan for beginners? It can be either home lessons or at a center. Thanks A Bunch!!!!!

I am interested in learning piano and I love that song, I really want to learn how to play it. I have never had any piano lessons, but I do have some background in music. If I started taking lessons and focused on learning that song how long do you think it would take? Thanks in advance!
And do you have any suggestions on where to get a good but cheap keyboard, it could be used. Like under 0, and what brand etc.

I have been playing the piano for five years. I can read music well and have books up to Repetoire level 9, but I mostly learn all the music I play by ear. A lot of people say I’m quite good. I want to take on a second job, and I was thinking maybe I could teach piano lessons to kids for a cheaper price than all the adult teachers around here. How would I go about marketing myself?

My friend is over and we would like to play piano. We have learnt some in music at school but we are still beginners. So we would like easy songs written with just the first letters of the chords. And we want actual songs that are popular not nursery rhymes or something. It would be good if they had the lyrics with the chords writted ontop of the word they are played on like with the guitar chords but it either is fine. Thanks so much and sorry for the long explination.

I am 23 and I want to learn to play the Piano. I have never taken any lessons so this is not something I have any clue about.
How much do you think that lessons will run me since the teacher will be starting from scratch? ( I cannot read music, but I do know a few easy songs I taught myself with a cheat book years ago)
What do you think lessons would run for a adult?
