Piano lessons?
Sunday, July 18th, 2010Would it be possible for me to teach myself how to play the piano? My mom would get me lessons but they are really $pendy! So do you think I could do it? Do you know any good sights for it? or tips?
I know how to read treble cleff, and I know about reading music (notes rests and all that) because I have been in Band 4 years (they don’t teach strings which includes piano) and I play the clarinet and oboe. So ya I also know about scales and key signatures and all that.
And where each note is on the piano.
I also have a keyboard at home. And I could probably use my friends piano… (she doesn’t know how to play)

Also i have a large keyboard and not an actual piano, does that make much of a difference?
Is it too late for me to start learning now? I am 19 and have been told by some people that it is too late to start now. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated thank you!

to take piano lessons or to keep doing what i'm doing?
Monday, June 21st, 2010Hi! Okay, so I used to take piano lessons a couple of years ago and have quit. I only got up to the level where I could play a simple star splangled-banner (using both hands). OR Level 2, I guess. I got to skip the kinder/pre part if that matters…
A couple of weeks ago, i’ve felt interest again, but when I looked at the songbook, I had no idea what keys the notes were, etc. on my keyboard I’d just "Demo" some pieces and memorize the keys that were lighting up & from doing that I could play pieces such as the turkish march, wedding march, chopsticks, etc. all from memory (using both hands of course).
BUT from playing by memory, i feel so limited, yet for me, it’s actually much easier cause the keys looks like one big picture to me.
sooo, is it best to take piano lessons so i wouldn’t feel "limited" or keep on memorizing keys just because?
Help me please, & sorry if I confused anyone. Thanks a lot!

Jazz is my favorite genre for piano, but I also like contemporary music and classical.

Monday, May 31st, 2010I own a keyboard and want to learn Piano, but the idea of learning Piano on a keyboard seems a little to me like learning Guitar on a little Hannah Montana plastic guitar. What should I do?? My neighbor offered to give me lessons (he’s my age) but that would mean I’d only get to practice when I’m at his house. I definitely can’t afford a legit Piano. What should I do?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010I’ve been looking into getting this keyboard that also comes with a few books from the Bastien Piano series. It has some early children’s beginner books too, so I just wanted to know if I would be able to learn from these books by myself. I don’t have enough money for a teacher, but I have friends that play piano that I could ask for help. I also know that it’ll take a lot more work, but I’m prepared.
